I am now back from my trip, huzzah! Platycraft will be getting a lot of new fun things soon, but in the meantime, I have something kind of interesting for all to enjoy.

For a while now I've been working on a project on the side by the name of Glowstone. The basic idea behind Glowstone is that, since the normal Minecraft server uses a lot of resources, it is worthwhile to create a completely custom server. What sets Glowstone apart is that it is written to implement the Bukkit plugin interface. This means that the vast majority of all plugins written for Bukkit, a popular modding interface based on Notch's server (Platycraft runs CraftBukkit), will be compatible with Glowstone.

What this means for you is that I have a Glowstone test server running alongside Platycraft and Platycraft Classic. Due to the incompleteness of Glowstone, the world is reset every time I restart the server, and inventories reset whenever you quit and rejoin. However, I've given everyone the /item command (use it like /i wood 10), so everybody gets unlimited items. If you have issues, use an item ID, since only blocks are placeable (for example, for sugar cane you must use 83 instead of 338). There's no physics yet, either.

Overall, Glowstone is at present something of a Creative-SMP hybrid, but it will slowly be growing into a full-featured SMP server, with mobs, physics, and everything else you expect from an SMP server. When it reaches this point, I will use it to power Platycraft! For now, enjoy this test server. I've also linked it with the rest of the chats.
